Julius Dahmen und Volker Marhold an Board der Kaiser Friedrich

About Us

For 10 years, the Kaiser Friedrich lay in a deep slumber in front of the Berlin Museum of Technology. For us, Volker and Julius, that hurt our hearts.

As friends of shipping and honest craftsmanship, we had been keeping an eye on the city’s oldest passenger ship for years. Our shared passion and our combined experience as engineers and shipowners finally gave us the decisive impetus to get the old ship back on course in 2023.

It’s amazing: at 138 years old, our Kaiser Friedrich is older than our Weidendammer Bridge, where Pünktchen and Anton sold their matches in Erich Kästner’s story of the same name. And she has lost none of her charm in her old age!

The care with which we have restored the ship can be felt in every detail during your visit on board – from the choice of routes and our friendly service to the delicious Berlin potato salad. That is our word of honor.

Yours
Julius Dahmen & Volker Marhold
